Depth. Integrity. Action.

The simplest way I know to explain what I am doing at St. Paul's is that I am called to hold you in the love of Jesus until he makes you his own. In a deep way, I feel that all that we do at St. Paul's should be about this holding one another in love.

This blog is another way for me to hold you in love. My intention is to post something here every Wednesday (or sometimes Thursday). It will have two parts. The first part will be a brief spiritual reflection of some sort. I hope to offer you something in the middle of the week that will help you feel reconnected to your spritual source of life. As I've been praying about what I want to share with you in the weeks to come, three watch-words keep coming up for me: depth, integrity and action.

Depth
There are already many words and images, particularly on the web, and our tendency is to skip over them, like flat stones skipping over water. I hope to offer a brief word that will invite you to slow down and reflect, if even for a minute.

Integrity
The Anglican or Episcopalian way of following Jesus has great integrity. There are prayers in our Book of Common Prayer for every conceivable life situation and, within that book and within our lives, all is interconnected and creates a pleasing whole, to the glory of God. I hope this blog helps you make some of those connections so you can, by God's grace, integrate your Sunday self with your Wednesday self.

Action
Finally, Jesus says 'follow me;' that is, move, change, act. I hope to encourage you, like a spiritual coach, to take a next action, a next step, in your life with God. Our mission at St. Paul's is 'following Jesus together in worship, prayer and service.' I will be inviting you to join me in the life giving rhythm of an hour of worship a week, twenty minutes of prayer a day and an hour of service a week to those whom Jesus especially loves.

The second part will be a brief announcement or reminder of an upcoming event or two so that you can stay up to date with the life of our community.

I hope you join me by following this blog or checking in regularly.
